

Edu Neves
Edu Neves is a Brazilian flautist, saxophonist and composer, one of the most important names of the 'Brazilian Choro', a music style predominant in Brazil and internationally popularized by the famous mandolinist Hamilton de Holanda.
In 1998, he joined the group "Pagode Jazz Sardinha’s Club", named with the song composed by him. The group's first album, released in 1999, had this song nominated as the"Best Instrumental Music" at the Prêmio Sharp 99 (currently, "Prêmio da Música Brasileira"). The album was also on the top list of "Sweden Jazz Web", one of the most important jazz websites in the world, and was released in Japan by the label "Nippon Crown Records".
With a particular style of improvisation, Edu Neves has performed as a musician in shows and recordings with great names in Brazilian music, such as Hermeto Pascoal, Milton Nascimento, Seu Jorge, Maria Bethania, Hamilton de Holanda, Omara Portuondo, Elton Medeiros, Johnny Alf, Nei Lopes, Maria Schneider, Guinga, Ed Motta, Paulinho da Viola, Margareth Menezes, Zeca Pagodinho, Elza Soares, Dona Ivone Lara, Tim Maia, Luiz Melodia, among many others, besides having given workshops on Brazilian music languages at the prestigious institutions "Juilliard School" (NY, USA) and the California Jazz Conservatory (CJC, USA).

He is the author of the albums"Equador" (2012), "Cosmopolita" (2015) and"Gafieira de Bolso" (2007), besides his recent album "Olayá", a project that pays tribute to the Rio de Janeiro city and its musical universe, with singles featuring important names of the Brazilian music, such as,"Garota de Ipanema (feat. Zeca Pagodinho), "Tempo de Amor (feat. Seu Jorge), "Caiu Atirando" (feat. Hamilton de Holanda).
Edu Neves also recorded a Tribute to Nelson Cavaquinho (an icon of Brazilian Choro) at the "Teatro Ipanema", Rio de Janeiro, recorded with Adriano Souza (piano), Antonio Neves (drums) and Guto Wirtti (bass), which you can also watch below.
